Ivy Tech Associate of Applied Science

The International Training Institute of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Industry (ITI) and Ivy Tech Community College have joined in partnership to enable the delivery of an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree to journeypersons and apprentices enrolled in joint apprenticeship training programs associated with the Sheet Metal Workers International Association.

This innovative system will allow apprentices enrolled in local Joint Apprenticeship Programs the opportunity to attain an associate degree by enrolling in Internet-delivered general education courses leading to a degree and meeting the residential credit requirement.

USI Bachelor of General Studies

The Applied Studies major is an option of the USI Bachelor of General Studies program. It is for graduates of apprenticeships in selected building trades. The program is designed to develop graduates who are technically skilled, broadly educated, innovative, and well prepared to manage and lead tomorrow's workforce.

Through a partnership with the Indiana building trades apprenticeship and training programs, USI recognizes technical training and the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree as a significant milestone toward a bachelor's degree. Prospective students who have completed an apprenticeship program in selected building trades and hold an AAS from Ivy Tech Community College are eligible to pursue the applied studies option with a concentration in technical supervision and leadership or business development.

The technical supervision and leadership concentration will address engineering practices, communication skills, supervision and management practices, work-related research projects, problem solving, and leadership.
